A PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION BY GIRLS WHO SKATE

“What’s your road, man? – holyboy road, madman road, rainbow road, guppy road, any road. It’s an anywhere road for anybody anyhow. Where body how?”

– Jack Kerouac, On the Road –

Starting skateboarding at the age of 14 was a blessing. It has given me the opportunity and freedom to explore the world and meet a global community of creative friends.

With skateboarding comes the life of a ‘nomad’ and a valid ‘excuse’ to travel from city to city for no other purpose than to roll around. From MACBA square – Barcelona, to  NIKITA HQ – Iceland, through to Venich Beach –  LA.

Rolling through these streets has filled my life with inspiration and opportunity and in this exhibition I want to showcase some of the  creative encounters I met along the way….

Nomadic moments captured by a group of friends.

I met Louisa Menke in New York City . We were on a Rockstar Bearings tour. Here she shoots fellow team mates Mayra Gallegos from Mexico and Sarah Muerle from Sweden.

I skated regularly with Alana Paterson whilst living the ‘skate’ dream in Barcelona in the summer of 2009. This girl has got a magic eye.

Sarah Meurle, in my opinion, has the best skate style of all time. I think we first met in Barcelona.

This is my favourite place to roll so far. Venice Beach , California.  Me  - shot by Georgina Townsin.

A massive thank you to Nikita clothing for all the constant support.

HUCK magazine and COPSON ST. would like to invite you to the Private View for Anywhere Road, a photography exhibition that cuts to the core of skateboarding life. Inspired by the On the Road issue of HUCK and featuring photography by female skateboarders from around the world, it’s a snapshot of life on the road, by girls who live it.
